I recently travelled around Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada and stayed at a great B&B that I will definitely visit again when in the area. It is located just east of Thunder Bay and is a lake-front property. We arrived in the early evening and after a quick tour of the property, we were directed to a diner along the highway, the Crysal Beach Roadhouse, that is frequented by locals. After a delicious light meal we were greeted with tea in the living room for a chat with our hostess, Marie and a fellow guest. After tea we wandered down to the dock and were treated to the sight of two loons swimming by. The water was so clear the rocks at the bottom were visible. Breakfast the next morning consisted fresh fruit – kiwi, strawberries, cherries, grapes, tangerine; oatmeal with apples and cinnamon; coddled eggs and asparagus for me and omelet and asparagus for my aunt and uncle; and fresh scones. We were unable to eat everything so Marie sent us on our way with eight more scones, buttered and jammed, for the road. Did I mention the mints and chocolates in the rooms? We had a two bedroom family suite with a bathroom. Both bedrooms overlook the lake. When the weather is warmer there is a hot tub on the patio and the poppies were just about to open. It is a lovely setting and Marie couldn't be more welcoming. There are many return visitors and we could see why.
