Don’t let the name fool you, it’s a restaurant.
I tried out “El Furniture Warehouse”:http://www.warehousegroup.ca/ on Richmond Row in London, Ontario the other day. It’s part of a chain of restaurants in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. It looks like a warehouse and the décor inside is minimal. The seating is booths and padded stools. All this keeps the overhead down so all items on the menu are $5.95 though the price goes up if you add on. For example, if you add marinated chicken or braised beef to one of their salads it’s an extra $2.25. However, it’s still a reasonable price.
I had the mushroom and Swiss cheese burger with pepper fries and my friend had the roasted turkey BLT on cranberry sourdough bread. They don’t serve hot drinks so we had pop at $2.95 each and refills are $0.75. My bill still came to just $10 including taxes; my friend paid a bit more because she added avocado to her sandwich for $1.95 more. Given the reasonable food prices I’m sure they make money on the alcoholic drinks. When school is in session it gets quite full of university students – not surprising at these prices. We visited at lunch during the week so it wasn’t packed. Everything we saw going to other tables looked appetizing as well. There is a patio outside but it was a bit too warm to sit out the day we went.
Open from 11 am to 2 am the service was efficient and friendly. No debit cards – cash or credit only. There is metered parking on the side streets.
