These are in a delightful setting in trees high above the river valley.

Up a side road off the CA 184, Potes to Pesaguero road, directions from Brittany Ferries were easy to follow and accurate. The main building with reception is an attractive stone building with low pantiles roof. The other blocks of apartments with white plaster walls, are scattered around the site. For those with mobility issues, heavy luggage, or if it is raining, there is no parking by the apartments and there is a walk of 30+m from the car to apartment.

We had a pleasant apartment on two floors with a grassed area outside with table and chairs for meals outside. A glazed glass doorway led into an open plan living area with dining kitchen and small bathroom with excellent shower and toilet off it. A spiral staircase led up to a double and twin bedroom on the first floor. There was a settee and small armchair so comfy seating might be a bit snug if there were four of you. There was a small TV and a dining table with four chairs.

The kitchen had a fridge with a small freezing compartment, oven, microwave, coffee maker and a washing machine. There was a plate rack on the wall with crockery and a small cupboard with saucepans and some cooking utensils. Minor niggles were lack of a bread/chopping board and no kettle. The dish rack didn’t have a drip tray and dripped straight onto the work surface. Apart from the table there was little working area. As long as you are not wanting to do a lot of ‘proper’ cooking there shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Being tea drinkers we did miss a kettle and tea pot. Water boiled in a saucepan and poured onto a tea bag in a cup isn’t quite the same!

We had a 4’6” double bed with a single bolster pillow. There was a small wardrobe, a blanket chest at the foot of the bed which we moved into the twin room to give us more space and two bedside cupboards with lights. I had to watch out for the wall lights when going to bed. The twin room had two single beds, small wardrobe, and a chest of drawers. All the beds were made up and there were towels provided for four people which was a bonus.

A door from the double rooms leads out onto a small grassed area lined with conifers for privacy.

Apart from the 6 weeks of the summer holiday when only weekly bookings are accepted, these can be booked by the night. In July and september they are £110 per night. For the rest of the year, they are only £54, which makes them excellent value.

Hot water and electric heating were included in the rental although there was a wood burning stove for additional heat with logs charged at €4. In spite of the cold damp weather when we arrived, the apartment was warm and cosy and we didn’t use the wood fire.

We were given a warm welcome when we arrived and reception spoke good English and didn’t want a deposit for breakages. We were handed a useful information pack in English about the local area. Wifi is available in reception (when it is manned). There was a phone in the house. We found mobile coverage to be unreliable.

This is a delightful place and was very quiet at the start of May when we visited. We enjoyed our stay and can recommend the place. The only reason I’ve knocked the star rating back is the walk from the car to the apartment.
