Reasons for trip

I have just read the review posted by someone last year and have to agree with what they said. The zoo is set on a very steep hillside which is hard enough to manouvre on foot, but for people in wheelchairs or even for someone with a child in a pushchair, I would give it a miss. We saw a few people attempting to push a wheelchair up the steep slopes, really struggling in the heat, but maybe worse when they were attempting to hang onto the wheelchair as they nearly flew back down. As far as I know there was no mention of this problem in the leaflet we picked up at the tourist information office in Edinburgh. We did have problems though. Firstly the leaflet did not include the address or postcode so that you could use your satnav to find the way there. I tried phoning up but no one replied. So in the end we used a bus route map to find our way there. We did not see the famous pandas as you have to book a slot online before your visit, but we didnt have internet access so that put a stop to that. Apart from our visit to the zoo being the equivelant of climbing Everest, we were disappointed as we saw very few animals. It was such a hot day they were hiding in the shade out of sight. I realise that this isnt the fault of the zoo. Some animals were behind perspex, so we should have been able to see them, but unfortunately the sun was shining on the perspex making it impossible to see much at all, I think this could be improved with anti glare perspex. Finally we paid £32 for our entry into the zoo which, along with £4 parking fee made it seem like an expensive and not very enjoyable day.
