Relaxation

Eastwood Hall is situated in Eastwood which is in the neighborhood of Nottingham. My husband and I were going to Donington Park to watch World Superbikes and wanted to stay somewhere near. This was ideal, being only about 20 mins away. Being Eastwoods, we couldn't resist staying here. The hotel was situated in beautiful grounds, with security gates. The setting was just wonderful. It would not be easy, however, for anyone with disabilities to walk into the town. The hotel had been enlarged greatly over the years, but more than adequate parking was available. Lifts were available, but the corridors were long – not easy for anyone with mobility problems. The hotel was only 2 stories high though. The staff at reception were friendly and informative, waiting to finish with one customer before attending another. The rooms were large and clean, with lovely views, but the bathroom required a little redecorating. All the usual facilities such as TV, hairdryer, tea and coffee facilities and iron were in the room. As we were on a motorbike, we hadn't brought our laptop and so didn't enquire about Wi-Fi, but our mobile phones worked fine. The one thing that was missing in the room was bedside lamps. The main light could be controlled by a bedside switch, but as I often wake in the night and read, this was a little annoying. The hotel had a spa, but I only used the swimming pool, which I must say was a very decent size and shape – built for swimming, not decoration. There was also restrictive rules for children using the pool. There was also a games room with pool tables and outdoor tennis courts, but we didn't use either. The restaurant was nice and the food enjoyable. As we were on a DBB basis we expected to have a set menu to choose from, but we were allowed to choose from the menu. Breakfast too was absolutely fine except both mornings we had to wait for something to be filled up – eggs one day, bacon the other. The bar was nice with plenty of various seating areas. There was also a sheltered patio area and other outside seating which we did use as the weather was glorious. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay, with the exception of a few minor irritations, and we would stay there again. We would also like to thank the very kind, older lady who accurately directed us to the hotel.
