Reasons for trip

The Early Riser Café is a delightful neighbourhood café that is only open for breakfast and lunch. It opens at 7:00 am during the week and 8:00 am on the weekend, closing at 2:00 pm every day. Located in a strip mall on Wonderland Road just south of Fanshawe Park Road West, it is a small establishment with great service. You can’t miss the mall as there is a British food shop just a few doors down so you’ll see the huge Union Jack on the mall sign.

The menu is on the chalk board above the lunch counter. The drinks may be basic, no specialty coffees here, but the food is beyond basic with changing specials each day. I have been numerous times for brunch and have tried various egg dishes from poached eggs with ham, toast and home fries to omelets to Eggs Benedict with lobster. The food has been consistently good and the price can’t be beaten for between $10 and $15 depending on your order, including your coffee.

During the Covid-19 pandemic the cafe has been working extended hours, open until 4:00 pm every day to fulfill take out and delivery orders.
