This is a 5 star hotel set in the village of Ouranopoulis which is on the 3rd finger of Halkidiki, a stone's throw from Mount Athos (the monasteries of Greece). The hotel and grounds are definitely a British 5 star not a Greek 5 star. It is set in a beautiful bay with its own large private beach and a lovely swimming pool. We had our own superior double room with a balcony overlooking the sea, what a view, it was to behold! They do suites which not only give you extra room but also a large balcony with your own private pool. The customer service was 1st class, nothing was too much trouble and this was from the cleaners right through to the management. Everyone wanted to help in any way they can. I went to the spa for a neck and shoulder massage. Oh how I relaxed after this!! The food was top quality but buffet style although we never had to fight our way through the other guests. The choice was exceptional and plentiful and every evening it was" themed". The breakfasts were top quality and you could have anything you wanted. If you needed something you couldn't see, just ask. The wine was good but expensive. We found the same wines in the local shops at a fraction of the price so we managed to slurp some on our balcony beforehand. I can strongly recommend this hotel if you want to "crash out" or go walking towards the monasteries but you cannot actually go into the places. In fact females are not allowed onto the land never mind the monasteries and males can only visit providing they have a permit which you need to get before you leave England. This would not deter us from going to the Eagles again. We can highly recommend although it's not suitable for either disabled or infirm people as there are quite a lot of steps.
