I’m drawn back to the Dusit Thani hotel year after year, in part because of the number of friends I’ve made there over the years, friends from all parts of Europe and Australia, and among the superb staff at the hotel. The Dusit has become a home from home for all of us, and meeting up every January/February takes on a party atmosphere as plans are made for meals together, day trips to new places found, and evenings spent at the beach bar watching the moonlight over the waters of the Gulf of Thailand. There are returned guests every month, but January/February welcomes more from the colder European climes to this hotel on the beach, just outside the town. The welcome from the staff is warm and homely, the rooms are delightful and the fruit and flowers always echo what the staff know of my tastes. Everything is in place for a perfect holiday. Hua Hin is where the Thai royal family have a Summer Palace, it is not brash like some of the Thai resorts and the entertainment is geared to a more mature group of people. Superb restaurants cater for all taste, allied to excellent shopping, and a shuttle bus from the hotel to the town at hourly intervals make this the perfect hotel for relaxation and good living.
Nearby sightseeing includes the River Kwai and the WW2 cemeteries, Bangkok, and various Temples.
