Dunblane is easily accessible by road or rail and is an ideal base for touring Perthshire.
The Cathedral city stands either side of the river Allan and has a variety of shops, and places of historical interest. When I went , the Cathedral Guild Staff made me very welcome at their coffee morning which was raising funds for their chosen charities. Afterwards I visited a shop selling speciality pies – chicken and lemon, chicken and orange being my favourites. An outing to nearby Cromlix hotel for Champagne afternoon tea was especially enjoyable. The variety of delicious teas, the superb food and excellent caring staff in this comfortable hotel made this an experience not to be missed.
The snowdrops were out in full bloom and after walking in a nearby estate I visited Stirling Castle and enjoyed a very informative guided tour followed by lunch in the Castle’s Unicorn restaurant.
The historic sites and buildings, countryside, variety of shops and friendly people are well worth visiting.
I thoroughly recommend this beautiful place.
