I decided to visit Dubrovnik using the services of a wonderful personal tour guide which was organised through the Sipan Hotel. I got up early to catch the fast catamaran at 0700 and my personal guide was there at the port to meet me. We got a local bus down whilst she explained what would happen. she was really friendly and put me at ease. We entered the old town and she would give me a lively and often amusing stories about the buildings and characters of past and present. It was great because it was early and quiet and you could afford to stop and appreciate how well built it was. I liked the old hospital/pharmacy and the water fountain that has kept flowing over the centuries and still tasted refreshing on a hot day. Although there were cobbles it was flat to walk on.
I finished the 2 hrs session having learnt lots of amazing historical facts, very memorable.
I took the cable car up the Srdj mountain to the top where there was wonderful views and an excellent museum about the Homeland war and devastating attacks on Dubrovnik with loss of life and damage to homes.
