When we arrived at the Doubletree Suites in Naples last November, it was the 8th bed we had slept in during our touring holiday of the Florida Keys and Naples! We had received excellent service in advance by email from RobinJill, the Director of Concierge Services, and our room had already been allocated before we arrived. She warmly welcomed us and introduced us to other members of staff. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was very spacious with a lounge and bedroom overlooking the river. Waiting in our room for us was a Hilton Honours bag filled with bottles of water, health snack bars, chocolate, together with robes and of course the Doubletree warm cookies!
We had booked a ‘leisure escape package’ on the website for $50 a day which didn’t quite cover breakfast and dinner but helped a lot. There were 2 restaurants, one was called Cafe Portofino and was quite informal which served dinner and breakfast. For breakfast there was the option of a buffet together with specially ordered items from the kitchen such as omelettes or pancakes – very good. There is a very long happy hour late afternoon/early evening. The other restaurant was Charlie Chiangs which served really excellent Chinese food. We enjoyed that very much!
The hotel is well placed for the beaches and on one day we visited Delnor Wiggins State Park which had a lovely beach and was really relaxing. The hotel offers beach towels and beach chairs free of charge which was a lovely touch. Also bicycles but we didn’t use them!
On another day we visited Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, a short drive away from the hotel, and had fun spotting the wildlife there. We also drove to South Naples to the shopping centre there so the hotel is really well placed.
As we left to make our way to Miami we were offered more cookies to take with us. We loved everything about this hotel – the comfort, the situation, the restaurants, the extras and most of all the welcome and lovely staff. Highly recommended.
