Clean comfortable rooms with quiet air conditioning. Slightly tired looking furniture but enough storage space to stay for several days, I prefer that to modern hanging rails and no drawers! Firm beds and decent bedside lights. Nice toiletries in the bathroom. I am a light sleeper but found the rooms quiet – and as we had teenage girls staying in the next room the sound transmission must be low. Only 2 cookies available at reception for 4 guests but given vouchers to collect 2 later and told we could come back in 15 minutes. Cookies contain nuts, be warned if you have young children with you. Modern art on the walls – not to my taste. Electric clocks by the bed go off at night, do not rely on them for an early wake-up call. They also ran on their own time (about 20 minutes out) with no apparent way to change this.
Small swimming pool but good hot tub. Didn't try the sauna. Gym was very well equipped and not well used.
I would have given this an even higher rating if I had managed to obtain internet access. However it wanted me to download a file – something I would not risk. I was too tired to raise this with reception. The hotel is on a duel carriageway but it isn't far to turn around and head back into Sheffield. It's set well back and there isn't any road noise in the bedrooms.
We didn't eat in the hotel but I'd be happy to stay longer and try the food another time.
