We chose the Donnington Grove hotel for its location to meet up with 3 sets of friends. It was a pin in a map moment but we weren't disappointed. The drive up to the hotel was wonderful and the anticipation of our accommodation was not let down. The hotel had been a country seat at one time and was set in glorious country side with a golf club to the rear. We were told that our room was on the third floor and there was no lift. This wasn't a problem for us but I did they should have asked if we could manage to walk up that many stairs. They did offer to take our bags up! The third floor house 4 bedrooms in a quadrangle which was great which meant we were all together. Our room was superb. We actually had the rounded room of the turret so it was very large and we had a three piece suite. The views were wonderful looking out over the lake and golf course. The bed deserves as mention as it was so comfortable as were the pillows. The bar was bright and a lovely area to meet. The restaurant though seemed to lack atmosphere with plastic plants breaking up a very stark area around tables. However, we had a lovely square table for 8 and the service and food were superb. We were delighted to get a good deal on our stay although two of the four couples had problems on check out with the receptionist not knowing that they had paid in advance. It was all sorted though and no problems occurred. I would highly recommend this hotel.
