Milford Marina Water Front is a lovely area to walk along with its cafes and shops, museums and restaurants. As we strolled along we noted a sign for a boat trip to Skomer Island. The cost was £25.00 per person and it took about two hours.
The boat is undercover so if its raining it doesn’t matter and you don’t get covered in spray. Although I did feel that this detracted a little from the thrill of zipping along on the ocean wave. However, it may run rain or shine but it does run if its windy. The skipper and assistant are very helpful and pass information regarding the coast line etc as you sail along. When you reach Skomer Island the boat stops and you can go out onto the boat platforms and take pictures of the wildlife. In the breeding season Skomer host its most famous visitor the Puffin and if your really lucky seals and dolphins. The boat does not dock on the island itself. There are toilets on board but these can only be used when the boat is stationery but if needed the skipper will stop the boat. The crew member informed me that they can take disabled persons. They also do trips up the Cleddau River and special trips such as photography. Well worth it.
