On choosing our accommodation after a longish, night-time flight and that it would not be landing until just before midnight we thought The Desalis, as a suggested airport hotel, it would provide a degree of the possibility of a snack on our arrival at it. Before our holiday departure I had taken the liberty of emailing them and requesting a plate of simple sandwiches to be left in our room upon arrival. Not receiving the courtesy of a reply I assumed all would be well. Not so. On our arrival, well after midnight, tired and hungry, we found the restaurant, of an Indian cuisine apparently, closed at 10.00 p.m. Fair enough but on enquiring if sandwiches had been left as requested was told these were not supplied. Breakfast was served until 9.30 a.m. and not wanting to have made a particularly early rise I then asked if a breakfast be served as room service. No. Not done. Right, there must surely be a packet of biscuits with the tea and coffee tray in the room – no. Hungry we went to bed and looked forward to a hot bath in the morning. Again, NO. No hot water, simply tepid, running cold. The facilities had other minor problems. We found the staff, missing, untrained and not very polite. Our answer to this hotel in future – NO.
