Reasons for trip

Culture / Sightseeing

I booked two twin rooms at the above hotel recently for a Sunday night. I booked well in advance and the rooms cost just £25 per room at Days Inn situated on Stafford service station southbound. As we were visiting Alton Towers theme park and wanted to have two days at the park this seemed an idea location at a great price. The rooms themselves were clean and had kettle, TV and decent sized bathroom. Very similar to a Travelodge, with shops and a Mac Donalds in the nearby service station. When I booked into the hotel I was asked for my registration number and the booking site had said parking was available. No notices saying you needed to pay for parking if you were staying in the hotel. I understandably, I think, assumed parking was free for hotel guests. Wrong! two weeks later I received a penalty notice for not paying the parking charge which occurs once you have parked for two hours or more. If you plan on staying here the hotel is fine for one night, you do need to be aware the parking costs are separate, and need to be paid in the service station itself. Lesson learnt.
