We found a very good special offer on Travelzoo for a spa day at this venue. It comprised a full day's use of the spa facilities (with loan of robes, slippers and towels), a one-hour mud treatment and a light lunch including a glass of prosecco!
The spa itself has recently been refurbished and the facilities look new. There is a nice pool (big enough for proper swimming not just floating!) which has two strong water jets at one end – ideal for massaging the shoulders! There is a sauna and a steam room (both of a decent size) and a jacuzzi by the pool. We did the rounds of all of these both before lunch and after, with a break sitting on the pool loungers between. The pool area was kept clean and well heated – just like being abroad!
The mud treatment was interesting to say the least. We were enclosed in a 'rasul' chamber where we were invited to cover ourselves in the mud provided. This we did to much hilarity – it was just as well no-one else was watching! The room then transformed itself into a sauna for about 5 minutes, to dry the mud on our skin. Then magically it turned into a steam room to wet and loosen said mud. Finally, with steam turned off, showers appeared from the ceiling to wash the whole thing off! All we can say is that we had never experienced anything like it before, but it certainly gave the skin a wonderfully smooth feel!
Lunch was taken in the golf club bar, with us suitably dressed in spa robes. There were two courses, with meat, fish and vegetarian options. My personal choice was a chicken kebab with beef finger sandwiches and a salad bowl – delightful! There was a trio of desserts which were also very nice with the whole meal accompanied by the prosecco. Just right!
It was a very relaxing day, including an unusual experience, with a delicious lunch for a very reasonable price.
