I booked Hazel and Elm, adjoining cottages, in July, for a family group of 4 adults and 4 children (age range 3 to 70) and we had a great week, action packed.
The owners and managers (Sian and Cameron, Ben and Maddie) were helpful, friendly, welcoming. Communication before our stay was excellent, with fast and informative responses to queries, directions etc.
This is a small group of cottages (1, 2 and 3 bedrooms), one at least of which is adapted for wheelchair access.
The cottages themselves are cosy, with comfortable beds and well equipped kitchens, TV, DVD and WiFi. Despite it being July, we really appreciated the log fire of an evening.
Outside, there’s a play area for the kids and the great attraction of 3 families of ducks with ducklings, always on the lookout for food. There’s also a separate games room. And a laundry.
The immediate setting is beautiful. The kids enjoyed clambering on the rocks by the Falls of Truim, and nearby Laggan beach is a gem. Further afield, we all loved the Highland Folk Museum (a great day out, and free), Highland Wildlife Park, Reindeer Centre and the Strathspey Railway summer Family special (with appearances from Peppa Pig and George!); and, for the adults, trips to the nearby Distillery (Balwhinnie) and the Cairngorm Brewery in Aviemore.
We loved it, and will definitely return.
