My wife and I were lucky enough to get tickets for Wimbledon this year, via the ballot. Having never been before, we were looking for a hotel that would allow us to get to and from the Championships as easily as possible.

Croydon Park Hotel certainly fits that bill. It’s a reasonably easy drive from the M25 (our satnav took us straight there) and it’s situated one minute’s walk from the East Croydon station and the tram stop. The tram takes you directly to Wimbledon station in about 30 minutes, from where you can walk, take a bus, or a taxi to the tennis.

As a hotel, it’s fine. It’s just what you might usually expect from a mid-range hotel – comfortable, clean, and with bar, restaurant and other facilities, although the prices are definitely London-biased! It’s main advantage is the access to transport to both Wimbledon and elsewhere, especially if you don’t want to stay in the centre of London.
