I chose this hotel as it had leisure facilities with beauty treatments as I was going away with an old schoolfriend for a “girlie” weekend. We wanted somewhere that was good value for money and within walking distance of the centre of Reading. We stayed on the Saturday night and chose a B&B advance purchase option which cost approx £76.00.
We were not disappointed! The back of the hotel has views over the river (see photo) – imagine this would be a perfect setting in the summer months as there is a patio area with tables & chairs. Breakfast was good with cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast and a buffet cooked breakfast. Only downside was that tea and coffee was served by the waiter rather than being able to help yourself to top ups. There was plenty of secure private parking – access by a code (changed daily) and another security feature was that the lifts could only be entered by using the room key cards.
Variety of beauty treatments on offer and of a very good standard (we had a pedicure and mini facial). The Spa staff we came into contact with – Darren (manager) and the therapist – were really friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Pool/steam room and & gym looked inviting but sadly we ran out of time to be able to use them. We are planning to return and take advantage of one of the Midweek Spa offers.
Local pub The Moderator (opposite the hotel) had fantastic live music and good atmosphere on the Saturday night. Well worth a visit!
