Once more the Steampunk Weekend at Crich Tramway Village was great fun. There was all the traditional nonsense such as Tea Duelling and Hula Hoopers. Musical entertainment was provided by Madame Misfit and the Daisy Roots Skiffle Group. Various Circus acts put on a great show and there was even a Fire Eater! This year I was quite happy to do a lot of travelling up and down on the vintage trams rather than do so much walking.
For those that have not visited Crich before, there really is so much to see as well as the great collection of restored trams. There is a sculpture trail, various indoor exhibitions and a recreated period village scene including a pub, shops and cafes.
Crich is conveniently situated near the main routes in the Midlands from Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby or Sheffield. There are many other attractions in the Derbyshire Peak District, so this part of the country is well worth a visit.
