Reasons for trip

Booked via Jet 2 holidays we had a standard bungalow. The bungalow itself was large with a good sized living area and large kitchen dining area and two good sized bedrooms. Apart from a new kitchen, the rest of the bungalow was in need of refurbishment; nothing too bad to worry about but the old pine furniture looked dated and the settees were very uncomfortable. Similarly the bathroom needed a makeover but there was plenty of hot water and the shower had excellent pressure. The bungalow was clean, with the cleaner coming in 5 days in the week, although the was a pervading smell of damp. The bungalow was cold in the evening and the air conditioning/heating did not work. We were provided with a portable oil-filled radiator which took the chill off at night. The outside area was a disappointment as we had a very small patio area which did not get the sun at all and we looked onto a wall. However, we were in a very quiet area of the complex being at the furthest point from the reception and bar/restaurant and we had access to a small heated swimming pool shared only by a few bungalows. This did get the sun for a large part of the day. The large pool at the top end of the complex was also heated. The staff in reception and in the bar/restaurant were all very friendly and service was excellent. We didn’t eat much in the restaurant, preferring to try the many restaurants in Matagorda and Puerto Del Carmen, but what we had was good. Drinks prices were slightly high compared to surrounding bars. There was entertainment in the bar every night if you like that sort of thing. The complex is set on a hill but it is ramped throughout and there is plenty of accessible accommodation near the reception area/bar restaurant. The complex is not far from the airport so there was aircraft noise but it wasn’t too bad. It is also a short walk from two commercial areas both of which has some good bars and restaurants as well as supermarkets. It’s about a half hours stroll along the very pleasant relatively flat frontage to the strip at Puerto Del Carmen and a further 20 minutes or so to the port area. One can also walk along the beach for some distance. Taxis are cheap and plentiful.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Costa Sal.

Room Tip: We would advise avoiding the bungalows at the bottom end of the complex (700’s) if you want more…
