Reasons for trip

We flew early morning with TUI, from our local airport to Tenerife South. We arrived at the hotel for lunch. We were greeted at reception with a glass of Cava. The hotel is now adult only, it was once the Esmeralda, but after a take over and make over it’s now adult only all inclusive. The hotel is situated on a level area close to the beach at Fanabe.

There is an excellent level prom walk to Los Americas and future to Los Christianos. Local buses are also easy to use and the bus stop close by too.

The hotel is branded and four star but IMO more like three star. Don’t be put off. It’s clean and well maintained. Rooms are clean and modern. With distance sea view or pool view and sea view. Bathroom has a walk in shower and no bath. Large wide screen TV with UK channels. Fresh bottle of water each day, fridge and kettle with daily supply of tea coffee and milk.

Two outside bars one also acts as a snack bar. Fresh fruit, bread to make your own sandwiches, salad grill to toast -sandwiches if wanted – cakes and teas and coffee and cold drinks available self serve and ice cream tubs. Local drinks available but cocktails seem pre mixed and seem to get mixed reviews on TA. I haven’t tried one but the wine is very drinkable. One indoor bar which again has self serve hot drinks all day.

The restaurant is buffet and a good choice. Take a seat and a waiter brings your wine or beer with meals, plus water. There is outside seating as well for meals. A microwave is available if you think food Is cool. I’ve never seen it used. Most meals are cooked at the buffet, meat and chicken or fish appears daily. Cooked in front of you. Paella pasta and pizza also made in front of you are available. Large selection of salad and usual vegetables are available. They offer a Sunday roast lunch with Yorkshire pudding.

Daily entertainment includes paella cooking, water darts, bowls and aqua size. Evening is varied and starts earlier now. There is a display screen TV in reception which shows what’s on each day.

Plenty of sunbeds – hire a pool towel on arrival which you can change daily as required and get your money back when you hand in the towels at reception.

We like this location as it’s quiet but near good walks and buses. Shops nearby too if required. Lots of improvements to pavements and walkways are taking place by the harbour and Fanabe beach area. A great place for winter sun. Average temperature low twenties.

Have rated high as good value for money. You get what you pay for.
