Reasons for trip

“Cosa Nostra”:https://cosanostrawhitby.co.uk/ is an independent, family run Italian restaurant in the centre of Whitby. Inside are several terrace-like levels and we were shown to a table right at the top, where there was only one other table, for two, so very Covid friendly.

Three of us shared a delicious garlic bread marinara with tomato and a swirl of pesto, whilst a friend had garlic mushrooms – so lots of lovely smells abounded.

The “menu”:https://cosanostrawhitby.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/menu0821.pdf is extensive with pasta, pizza, risotto and meat dishes as well as daily specials. I chose linguine gamberoni as it was said to be spicy, and although it was full of large juicy prawns, I would have preferred more of a kick. Other options chosen were: risotto alla pescatora with smoked salmon and haddock, king prawns, squid and mussels; pollo al Gorgonzola; and agnello, lovely, griddled lamb cutlets. We were all very pleased with our choices but too full for puddings, so settled for coffees of various types.

Two of us shared a bottle of house white wine, reasonably priced at £18.95, whilst others had beer and a G&T from an extensive range of gins on offer.

The waitress was extremely professional and friendly, and I suspect with all the stairs involved, also very fit.

We were asked to leave at 9pm (the table had a time limit on it, and we had probably overrun).
