We have been to many of these meetings – they are for those who love to sing or listen. As this was the final one I thought it would be nice to let people know what goes on in the Folk world sometimes. I know there are other places where the folkies meet and sing, maybe you know of one?
The hotel booked was the Membly Hotel where everyone stayed and were looked after well, even though they were a bit short-staffed, bless them. We had a lovely room on the seafront, looking out to sea.
Friday evening there was a bar meal served to everyone and quite substantial too.
I think the Folkies nearly drank the bar dry – as they do – and sung individually and together for the whole evening.
The Saturday after breakfast (which I understand was very good), it was a casual trip into town to the pub called the Quay where more beer was consumed and Shanties sung by all and sundry. A super little shop nearby sold delicious Cornish Pasties to keep us going. Weather was lovely and warm – even better on Sunday morning, hot and sunny!
Bock to the hotel later for Siesta before the evening meal. Again good. Then more singing and drinking.
It was a sad farewell to the organizers as this was the last “Sing” and a lot of friends who we may not now see for years, if at all. We are all getting older!!
