We were delighted to find that Corfe Castle had so many activities and displays organised for the period of time between Christmas and New Year – there were plays, torch-lighting after dark, marshmallows and other festive goodies to eat.
There is a decent-sized car park just below the castle, but a reasonable level of fitness is required to walk up to the village where the entrance to the castle can be found – this wouldn’t be suitable for wheelchair users or people who have trouble walking.
Inside the castle itself there are steps and some uneven ground, but we really enjoyed the views from the top of the castle, and the display boards at the entrance gave a good insight into the history of the castle and the reasons for its destruction.
I really recommend this visit – it is a wonderful place to visit with children and dogs are allowed inside the castle too.
There is also a tearoom and a pub near the entrance to the castle.
