Coombe Abbey is in a beautiful setting just outside Coventry. The house goes back to 1150 and was built by the Cistercian monks. It is set in 500 acres of grounds landscaped by Capability Brown. The afternoon teas are very special. There is plenty of choice from the original cream tea to a savoury version. The atmosphere is all the better for there being a piano player in the room. Staff are very friendly and helpful, serving unlimited cups of tea, from Earl Grey to mint tea. I would recommend a day out here in order to visit the park and shops as well as seeing the beautiful house.
