Despite living here for years my wife and I have just discovered this absolute gem. Situated just slightly off the main city centre in York but, at the end of the day, only five mins stroll to York Minster. This restaurant specialises in authentic Southern Indian food and I can only describe it as fantastic. All the food is lovingly prepared by chef who is inclined to come out of the kitchen and ask you if you enjoyed it. I can only say I am not as young as I used to be so have eaten in many restaurants at home and abroad. On my last visit (been three times now) this chef prepared me a fish dish which I must rate as one if the most exciting culinary dishes I ever tasted. To top that the presentation is excellent and way above your average “Indian” restaurant. All this coupled by good friendly service from the waiter too. We went for an hour and was there two and a half last time in their really friendly company. A visitor from London was at the next table and he said, despite having tried many Indian restaurants in the capital, we had never quite had such great food. So if you are in York why not give them a try I would be more than surprised if you were not!
