We have just returned from a trip with Thomson holidays to the Riu club hotel in Negril, Jamaica. This was our first visit to Jamaica and we were pleasantly surprised, we found the staff very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel was clean and the food in the buffet restaurant was always varied, we also ate in the al La Carte retaurant one evening at no extra cost which was also of a very good quality with excellent service. It is an all inclusive hotel and a platinum Thomson hotel, which means you are dropped off from the airport first, it took about one and a half hours from the airport, the roads are not brilliant but I have been on worse !. The island is a lot larger than I realised so we did not hire a car like we usually do, we went on a day trip to some wonderful waterfalls and aslo the rum factory both of which were worth the visit. Probably the only downside we found to the hotel was the number of very loud americans who constantly carry round there own drink containers ready to be refilled should they become empty, although we were told by our rep that there were far more british people at the hotel i think on the week we were there they seemed in the minority either that or just much quieter.
