Melbourne is a huge city with a choice of hotels to match.
If you require a central location, adjacent to transport, walking distance from all attractions and comfort to boot, then this has to be the one.
Situated a short walk from the magnificently elaborate railway station, acoss the road from the trams system, and adjacent to the Yarra River for boat trips, this hotel is also a short walk from Federation Square, the Southbank riverside amenities, the city centre and the 88th storey viewing level of the Eureka Skydeck. (This is the highest public viewing point in the Southern Hemsisphere at 984 feet – and has the fastest lift, less than 40 seconds to travel 88 floors!).
But back to the hotel, which has spacious suites of rooms in which you can be totally self reliant if you wish.
The rooms are clean, well decorated and have all the modern touches, such as large, wall mounted flat screen t.v.s wi-fi etc.
The restaurant serves up a vast choice range for breakfast, which is buffet style, but eggs cooked any way you like if you so wish. I just wish the Australians could get the hang of sausages. There is a huge market for British style butchers making quality sausages here!
The bar is friendly, with locals popping in after work for a snifter, though maybe the free, hot bar snacks may also prove to be a factor.
The staff, so important in any hotel, are all-smiling, all-genuinely helpful and polite.
The test of any hotel however, is whether you would return and whether you would recommend it to others.
I would, and I have.
