Reasons for trip

Culture/Sightseeing

We were pleased to miss the UK mini heatwave, although hot and sunny in Toronto in July the hotel air con made for a comfortable nights sleep. Fabulous views of the city skyscrapers and beautiful Lake Ontario from our room in One King West hotel which is an historic bank, the vault still visible under the reception area.

Our room included a small kitchen area, with microwave, dishwasher and washer dryer.

The hotel has an entry to the PATH a useful web of underground corridors linking many downtown buildings, ideal during the hot summer and I’m told the bitterly cold winters. We did get lost more than once but the friendly Canadian folk would point us in the right direction. The Hudson Bay department store is well worth stopping by and Fran’s for breakfast if jet lag wakes you early and ravenous is open 24 hours.

Wander St Lawrence Market for a bewildering range of edible delights. The distillery district for gifts and souvenirs. Take a ferry from Harbourfront to one of the Toronto Islands where you can rent a bike or visit one of the beaches, including a clothing optional area if you fancy skinny dipping.

A trip to Niagara Falls is certainly worth the time, we rented a car using Turo, and stayed overnight at The Fallsviews Resort. Check the prices before you visit any of the steak restaurants, we had the most expensive meal of our life at Ruth’s Chris, mouth-wateringly delicious, but eye wateringly expensive.
