Reasons for trip

There are two ways to take in the Christmas Lights in Victoria Park in the middle of downtown London, Ontario. You can wander around the park itself and see them up close and/or you can take the elevator to the Promenade Deck (12th Floor) of “City Hall”:https://london.ca/ and see them from above. We did just that the other night and were glad we did.

There is a security guard who greets you in the lobby and directs you to the elevators. Once on the 12th floor, another security guard takes you out onto the Promenade Deck and from the north side of the deck you can see the park and the skating rink. We were there on a particularly clear and dry evening so spent a bit of time taking in all the other buildings downtown lit up for the holidays. It wasn’t too cold out so we didn’t freeze by lingering up there.

Access to city hall is available most nights during the month of December. Check the website to make sure they are open the night you want to go. There is on-street parking (free after 6:00 pm) outside City Hall and around Victoria Park. The Promenade Floor is open from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm for viewing.
