When we asked our good friends from Great Britain for a recommendation for a hotel in London they provided us with the name of the Charing Cross Hotel. From the moment we walked into the lobby of the Charing Cross we were impressed by the charming interior, the friendly staff, the warm ambiance and the delightful fragrance of fresh flowers and candles. We were escorted to our room by a member of the concierge staff. He was professional, friendly and informative. When we entered our room we were delighted by the beautiful and comfortable furnishings and by the view of some of London's prettiest buildings and streets. We had breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner at the Charing restaurant during our stay and we found the food to be quite good. The location of the Charing Cross is ideal. It is situated next to a tube station which stops at the train which goes directly to Heathrow Airport. After a dreadfully long and expensive taxi ride from the airport to the hotel we availed ourselves of the tube and train route back to the airport and found it to be an easy and comfortable experience. From the Charing Cross we were able to walk easily to the Parliament, to Big Ben, past beautiful parks, shops and restaurants. Staying at the Charing Cross turned out to be a lovely experience for us and when we return to London we will definitely make it our home base in London. Thanks Peter and Rita for the recommendation!
