We travelled from Wiltshire for a short break to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We drove first to the Cardiff Park and ride and went shopping in what is a beautiful city with many, many great shops. We had lunch, shopped a bit more and then made our way to the Celtic Manor. The staff there are very helpful and whilst waiting to sign in we admired the beautiful longe with the large wooden dragons and very, very high ceilings. Our room was everything we could ask for, our every diesire catered for. The marble bathroom was stunning and the toiletries much classier than those I'd buy myself. We had ordered dinner and this was a buffet, eat as much as you like affair, very nice. We then had a couple of drinks in the lounge before retiring to a very comfy bed indeed. Breakfast was to die for… We walked the length of the very well maintained golf course and then went for a swim and a sauna before indulging in a couple of treatments each at the spa. Wonderful! We skipped lunch as we'd breakfasted like kings and spent the rest of the day pottering around the grounds, playing crazy golf, sunbathing and having a few drinks on the patio. I really loved the fact that apart from everything else, this is a hotel where you can dress up and wear your high heels because you only have a short walk to the restaurant and bar and this is something my husband and i enjoy but don't do often enough and yet you don't look out of place if you haven't made quite so much effort either. We felt really comfortable here and even saw a couple of celebs . Overall it was somewhat more expensive than our usual weekend breaks but well worth the money. We checked out on Monday and took ourselves to Cardiff docks which is full of many different eateries, a theatre, the Dr Who exhibition and boat trips, in itself well worth a visit.
