Went to see Cats here on 31 May. As usual theatre staff very pleasant and helpful. Jugs of chilled water on bar is a nice touch, if you don’t want to buy a drink. A seating mix-up (not us!) caused some confusion just as show started.
Busy set, took me at least 15 minutes to take it all in. Orchestra was very, very loud. I know it’s usually a contest between the singers and the orchestra, but you do hope that the singers will win it. Sadly not this time! My aunt had seen Cats in London many years ago and she said this version wasn’t very good. Unusually for a Lloyd Webber show, one song appeared four times. I know “Memory” is popular but that’s pushing it!
Tickets were a gift, the giver was as disappointed as we were. Sorry Cameron McKintosh but you got it wrong this time.
