A wedding anniversary always needs a treat to celebrate so Sunday lunch at the Castle Hotel was perfect. Right in the centre of Aberaeron, the bar is a regular meeting place for coffee or a drink during the day, as well as lunch.
The Sunday lunch menu is the same in the bar as in the restaurant upstairs, with a choice of 3 starters, 3 main dishes plus vegetables, and a choice of desserts – good value at £13 for two courses £17.50 for three plus coffee. The bar is light and spacious so we ate there rather than upstairs. The starter (see photograph) was field mushroom stuffed with sundried tomato and goat’s cheese – excellent presentation and very scrummy. Roast lamb and roast beef were served with fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked and all served on nice warm plates.
It was an excellent meal, beautifully served in comfy surroundings. Very good value and Magda who served us is a great staff member. A lovely treat to celebrate 33 years together.
