Reasons for trip

Relaxation

We chose this villa for a variety of reasons. The main ones being the proximity to amenities and as I am a keen swimmer, the size of the pool!

The owners, Sue & Roger, were very friendly and helpful and offered us a discount as there was just the 2 of us staying in their 3 bed villa. Also as well as having a flexible approach to the arrival day Sue was happy to accommodate earlier arrival & later departure times to coincide with our flights. Please note this was only possible because it was compatible with the other bookings they had.

The villa is situated on a quiet estate within 5 mins walking distance to a bar & small supermarket. Nearby there was El Campanario Centre containing a large supermarket (open until late 7 days a week), a few bars & restaurants/cafes & a number of small shops which was approx 10 minutes walk. The beach area & main part of Corralejo was approx 15-20 mins walk but taxis were only 4–5 euros each way (we preferred to walk most evenings). The villa was exceptionally clean and very well furnished. We were particularly impressed with items that were included as standard, e.g. handsoap & dishwash tablets to name but a few things (we have rented many villas out where there has not even been a bar of soap!). Sue had also left us a 6 litre bottle of water, milk, coffee, a bottle of rose wine & after sun lotion. Insect repellant spray & after bite lotion had been left in the bedroom which was a nice thoughtful touch as she must have remembered me asking if it was a bad season for mozzies as I get bitten at the drop of a hat ! Two bedrooms ,including the master bedroom which we chose to sleep in, were on the first floor along with 2 bathrooms. There was another twin bedroom on the ground floor with an adjacent shower room & toilet. All were very clean with colourful furnishings, shower curtains etc. Plenty of towels were provided even 2 for use outside on the sunbeds. Once again this was exceptional as many villas we have used only provide 2 hand towels & 2 bath towels only – towels for the sunbeds are rarely provided. Wardrobe space was plentiful with lots of hangers and a safe was provided free of charge. There was an adjoining balcony to the master bedroom which had a table & 4 chairs, nice views of the sunset could be seen from here. A full Sky package was available on a large flat screen TV plus free Wi-Fi which was an added bonus. There was a DVD player (along with a choice of DVDs), a CD player and an ipod dock too. There were lots of books to choose from and a few board games to keep you occupied. Kitchen was very well equipped with a large fridge /freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, coffee machine, lots of plates, mugs, different size glasses & cutlery.

The outside area was very spacious with extremely comfortable sunbeds – some with drink holders – plus 2 small tables useful for drinks. Parasols were on sturdy bases. There was also a large dining table underneath a canopy which had fairy lights which lit up at night. The pool was very large and benefited from solar heating plus additional heating was available for an extra charge (although following an overcast day Roger turned it on for free to warm the water which was appreciated). The water had a temperature gauge which was an average of 22 degrees. I enjoyed the use of the pool 3 or 4 times a day but sadly my husband felt it wasn’t warm enough for him to indulge!! There was a gravel type garden area with a few large plant pots plus a BBQ. The garden area backed on to a road but although light traffic was fairly constant it was not intrusive and the walls/fences screening the villa ensured it was private. Smoking was permitted outside the villa only.

Suitable for guests with limited mobility although there was a flight of stairs leading to the first floor. However there was a bedroom & shower room on the ground floor along with the kitchen & lounge.

Lastly ,Roger will provide airport transfers at a very reasonable rate which we took advantage of.

When Sue & Roger turned up to take us to the airport I mentioned that I had forgotten to bring my pound shop luggage scales shop to check the weight of our “hold” suitcase. Sue commented that she should get some to leave in the villa. It is this type of attitude that set these owners apart from all others we have encountered. Just a pity they don’t own other villas.

We would not hesitate to recommend this villa (or return to it) as it was extremely well equipped with very helpful thoughtful owners in an area where a car was not needed.
