Relaxation

We chose this villa as it had great reviews and there was also a special offer on the Home Away website. Casa del Aire also ticked all the boxes as in it was within walking distance to restaurants, bars and supermarkets as well as the beach plus it was only 15 minute taxi drive from Mahon airport, so ideally situated if you prefer not to hire a car. Another positive was that it was in a good position at the end of a cul de sac in a quiet residential area.

We were very impressed with the high standard of furnishings and décor and was also exceptionally clean. The pool area was spacious with good quality sunbeds which were the most comfortable we have ever used (other villa owners need to take note as some provided aren’t even adjustable!). A good size parasol was also provided along with small tables for drinks etc. The only thing that we felt the garden area lacked was a few large plant pots to add some colour, although there was a pretty shrub in the gravelled area at the side. It was very private although parts of the patio and pool area were overlooked by a neighbouring villa’s balcony. The pool itself was accessed by Roman steps and was also very clean. Although pool heating was an optional extra I thought the temperature of the water was fine and I swam many times every day.

We chose to sleep in the master bedroom on the first floor. We had another 2 bedrooms to choose from, all on the ground floor. There was also 3 bathrooms and we chose one each so we didn’t get in each others way! The bedroom was very spacious with a very comfortable bed, full length mirror and good size wardrobes, one of which contained a safe. The master bedroom also benefited from a very large balcony which strangely did not have any chairs or table. The owner told us they were planning to rectify this following a few requests. The towels provided in the bathrooms included fluffy bath sheets, another plus. I do hate the small bath size ones that are usually provided in villas!

Denise ,the owner could not have been more welcoming and friendly. She turned up accompanied by a bottle of chilled Cava which was a nice touch! All communication had been via email so it was nice to meet her in person. We had chosen Thursday as flights were cheaper. Not only was Denise happy to accommodate our booking for these days (the norm is Fri or Sat) but she allowed to access the property early at 10.30am rather than mid pm and leave at midday rather than by 11am. Obviously this was due to the fact there was no other guests immediately before of after our stay but it was still appreciated.

There was internet access which was an extra 25 euros for the week if my memory serves me right. I had no problems at all with connection to the internet during our week’s stay. Although this villa was on 2 floors there were 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the ground floor so should not pose a problem for anyone with walking difficulties.

This was one of the best equipped and furnished villas we have ever stayed in. We would not hesitate to return or recommend it for a great holiday as it was also in such a perfect location for us as we prefer everything within walking distance. It was our first visit to this part of Menorca and we found the restaurants to be of an excellent standard at very reasonable prices .
