With no interest in going abroad this year, we treated ourselves to a week here. We have had short breaks here before and stayed last September for a weekend with the new Covid-19 rules we felt super safe here.
So a week of luxury awaited us. We had a superior room with view of the pool, this side view gives you afternoon and evening sun and glimpses of the sea.
The hotel is great for golfers as it has its own course, but for us the walk to historic Charlestown is something we enjoy. The hotel is on a cliff top location and sits facing the sea like a cruise ship. From the cheerful welcome from Barry the door man to the sparkling cutlery and white starched table clothes and napkins it’s an excellent experience.
There is a lift for those needing to rest legs. With Covid-19 you have to book a time for breakfast, dinner and a swim. But it all runs smoothly. Table and chairs in public areas are sanitised after use and labelled to show ready to sit at. Stair handrails are cleaned and so too are the buttons in the lift. The hotel feels safe and clean.
Breakfast is a little different with waiter service but runs smoothly, with plenty of options. The alternative restaurant Taste isn’t open yet.
One factor in Cornwall, you need to consider booking a slot to visit Heligan and all National Trust properties need prebooking. So too with restaurants.
The hotel has a tennis court so bring your racket and walking shoes for the lovely walks. It’s a short walk to a lovely quiet beach. If you like beaches, bring your own chairs, but we preferred the loungers in the hotel.
We also found the local train service a great way to get about. Park at Par station, and they have a ticket office to get tickets from.
Come and you won’t be disappointed.
