Reasons for trip

Cannock Chase in the West Midlands (UK) is an ‘area of outstanding beauty’ (AOB). A nature-lovers paradise, whether able-bodied or not!

Laid with level pathways, there are trails of verging degrees of challenge for walkers and riders alike. Dedicated cycle tracks and pedestrian paths intersect at various places, but with plenty of space for passing safely – as long as folk use their commonsense and give way where required.

The paths and trails pass babbling brooks and open waters, where ducks and fish can be found. Fishing is permitted. There are also open spaces where furry-friends can be off-lead. Again, commonsense is required. If there are dogs on leads, it’s probably for a good reason. Please be respectful of each other and put yours on a lead too.

At the main parking area (metered), there is also a cafe and cycle hire available. The cafe is ‘pet-friendly with level access and plenty of space for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs. Prices are a little high – as one would expect in an isolated location such as this – but the quality and quantity of food and drinks cannot be criticized.

There are few seats or waste bins at the site. Picnic waste and pooch pooh must be collected and disposed of appropriately to ensure the AOB is preserved for all.
