Opened less than a year ago, Can Faustino is a delightful and luxurious base to explore the lovely old Menorcan capital. The welcome was warm, the furnishings classy and the breakfasts varied and plentiful. We also enjoyed imaginative in-house meals on the evenings we didn’t venture to local restaurants, with very attentive and friendly service.
We made good use of the indoor pool, a small but interestingly-formed subterranean affair carved into the rock, plus the steam room. Once the outdoor pool opened up on April Fools’ Day, we did manage the odd dip but you had to keep moving! Other spa experiences were available at a supplement.
Slightly off-season, we found a car was essential to reach the various locations from which to indulge in our walking habit – great coast footpath ‘Cami de Cavalls’ encircles the whole island – as public transport is limited. Free parking is available at the harbour, involving a steepish climb to the hotel. The cobbled streets, although they may present challenges to the less mobile, are charming and the architecture full of character.
