I persuaded my husband to go to Cafe Rouge on a recent trip to Bath. He wasn’t keen and I wish I hadn’t pushed. We did have the early menu but it wasn’t very inspiring. I had the fried camembert which was very synthetic and then the fishcakes which were bland and dry along with “powdery” chips. We also found the wine list very expensive for what it was. Maybe I am being overly critical as it obviously was popular. The decor was very good though and the staff were very friendly and attentive. However, it was also very cold and we sat with scarves wrapped around us. This is the second time we have been to a Cafe Rouge (the first being in Brighton many years ago) and I’m sorry but we will not be frequenting again.
