Do not go here!!!
A friend and I met up for a preChristmas treat. I hadn’t been to Cafe Rouge for years , had a voucher, so thought we’d give it a try. Big mistake.
Hands up – it doesn’t help that I don’t eat meat. However that really shouldn’t cause too much of a problem.
My friend ordered a warm ham sandwich with an egg on top. Weird but she enjoyed it.
There were three vegetarian choices. All ‘off’ . It was only 1pm. Two fish choices. One ‘off’ so I ordered the only one that I could eat. Salmon, potatoes and vegetables.
Sounding promising I awaited eagerly. My friend was served her weird sandwich and I waited and waited. Eventually it arrived. Salmon so tough and leathery that I could not chew it. Mashed and fried potato that was burnt, Cold vegetables, I had no option but to return it. Went through the menu again. No the salmon was the only option.
Eventually it arrived ( my friend had long finished her meal) and it was ok. Bland but edible. I couldn’t eat it fast enough just to get out. We were in there two hours and eating only a fraction of that time. Ridiculous and appalling . Never to be repeated. We were allowed £5 off the bill.!!!
