Visiting our local Farmers Market and tasting some of Buzzard Valley wines, we were given a brochure and it looked really interesting. Didn't disappoint. On arrival the entrance is through the gift shop which has a wide range of wines, their own reds, whites and sparkling and world wines including vintage port, whiskey and brandy. Alongside are non-alcoholic wines, fruit wines, jams and preserves. There is a sampling counter and bottle packs and hampers can be made up.
Upstairs is the delightful restaurant with views over the beautiful countryside. The working vinery can be viewed here from a special viewing window in the bar. The daily menu is marked up on the special board and we found our meal delicious with generous portions, especially the catch of the day. It is traditional home cooked fare locally sourced served by friendly, attentive staff. They also cater for weddings and special events.
From the car park a glimpse of a lake can be seen. There are six lakes in total each stocked with different species such as bream, tench, barbel, chub, crucian carp, silver fish and trout.
This is a family owned business and you won't see their wines on supermarket shelves. Tours and talks about the vineyard (8000 vines) can be booked all year and they have a very good website www.buzzards-valley.co.uk. It is located between Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth off the A453. It's a great day out.
