I went to the “Burns Family Restaurant”:http://burnsrestaurant.ca/ for the first time last month with some family on a Sunday for brunch. The parking lot was full but we managed to find a spot and nabbed one of the few empty tables. The restaurant was busy including a large group, but the service was quick and friendly.
Although there was a buffet laid out, we ordered breakfasts from the menu. All the food was fresh and very tasty and ingredients are sourced locally as much as possible. One ordered Eggs Benedict with peameal bacon under the eggs ($8.95). Three of us had some version of eggs, bacon and toast and some added sausage and/or ham as well. I ordered two soft poached eggs with thick cut peameal bacon (thick back bacon with a cornmeal rind is the best way I can describe it) hash brown potatoes and rye bread ($6.25). The bacon is the best of its kind I have ever had and I’ve sampled quite a few over the years. The breakfast menu is served all day but there is an added $1 after 2:00 pm. Gluten free bread is available and tomatoes can be substituted for the potatoes.
It opens at 6:30 am every day for breakfast (7:30 on Sunday) and is open until 8:00 pm on Wednesday-Saturday (7:30 pm the rest of the week).
