It’s almost 2 years since we stayed at this hotel for a special birthday during the Twixmas period.
Nothing was too much trouble – everyone was happy to help and obviously enjoyed working there.
The food was excellent in the Ballroom restaurant on our second night. The first night we went to the less formal restaurant where the food was good, but not excellent. They did, however, do me a birthday dessert plate which was a lovely touch.
As we were leaving, I had admired a decoration on the Christmas tree and asked if I could purchase one. The manager responded that it was a special commission and there were none for sale. I totally understood. He then asked if we’d had a good stay and if we were celebrating a special occasion (my birthday). He said he hoped we’d had a good time and disappeared to process our final bill. When he returned, he had a beautifully wrapped gift in his hand which he passed to me, wishing me happy birthday. Of course, it was a Christmas decoration. It may sound silly, but there were tears of joy in my eyes and it was just the icing on the cake.
Now saving up to go again as it is a little pricey, but worth it.
