I’m so lucky having moved to Upton, just outside Bude, and just across the road from the coastal path. Just a thirty-minute walk along this stunning coastline and I am in Beautiful Bude.
Bude is a small seaside town with stunning beaches, four of them, a historic canal, a river, and a sea pool, free to all. There are rock pools to explore, sand dunes to hide in, surfing and paddleboarding opportunities as well as crazy golf and twice weekly artisan markets as well as delightful craft shops which often run craft courses.
For foodies, there are no ends of good restaurants to choose from. Head to the Weir for breakfast or brunch and leave room for afternoon tea in the Falcon’s Secret Garden, then Elements at the Beach for dinner, just to name a few.
The South West Costal Path offers wonderful, far-reaching views and the walk to Widemouth is not difficult. A morning walk will leave you ready for lunch at the Beach Cafe and there is the bus back if you wish. Another easy walk takes you along the canal to the Weir, then round to Widemouth and back along the coastal path.
Bude has something for everyone, and I know I am so lucky to be living here and having this delightful starting point and base for my discovery of Cornwall.
