I recently visited the Queen's Coronation Exhibition and State Rooms at Buckingham Palace. I must admit that it hadn't been top of my list of things to do but a friend persuaded me to join her. I have to say that it far surpassed my expectations. The Coronation exhibition was fascinating. Although it meant we couldn't appreciate the ballroom the exhibition which was held in it far outweighed that. The State Rooms were magnificent and I wondered why I hadn't been before. We spent about 3 and a half hours in there and could have spent longer as we were not hurried along at all. The paintings on display were as fascinating as was the history and decor. An audio set is included in the price of the ticket and I found that very helpful. It was so quiet, even in the gardens, and I couldn't believe we were in the heart of a bustling city. It was a fabulous day out. The shop was a bit pricey but don't let that put you off. The bonus was that by having our ticket stamped we can get free entrance again in the next 12 months. I shall definitely go back next summer!
