Reasons for trip

My husband and I paid the extra and went on a small group guided tour of Buckingham Palace in the evening. There were only about 20 people on the tour. We managed to get up close to all the points of interest, go behind the barriers and the tour guide gave very individual attention making sure they knew who each of us was and where we came from. It was quite magnificent to be with such a small group in such fantastic surroundings. To anyone who has recently enjoyed the Kings Speech this is a must. Our evening ended with a glass of champagne on the terrace. At the end of the evening we were escorted out through the main courtyard and the very familiar front gates of Buckingham Palace, as we were one of the last tours the ‘tourist’ entrance was closed. A great experience and well worth the extra money when you consider there are normally thousands of visitors a day all pushing for space. There was a disabled visitor who was extremely well catered for.

We have also done the same tour at Windsor Castle and enjoyed an equally fantastic experience. The restoration is remarkable. This tour ended in the shop with a glass of champagne and it was very pleasant to have a really private ‘shop’. On this tour there were only 14 of us.
