We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and booked on a bed, breakfast and evening meal basis as we were concerned that restaurants in Oakham could have been closed because of COVID restrictions. We were worried that eating in the hotel restaurant for 3 nights might be boring with a limited menu, how wrong could we be. The menu was varied, and the food was very good; even on our third night I was struggling to decide between a few different dishes.
The hotel is in a very old building and spreads into the adjacent buildings so there are several different floor levels and lots of stairs and different floor levels: confusing at first and not the easiest place to carry suitcases around. Our room was very large, but the bathroom needed some work, however as a base for our 3-day stay it was adequate.
A BIG shoutout to Tom who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and was on duty for our dinner on our first 2 nights, and as an aside I recommend the Oakham Citra IPA, particularly with the curries on the menu.
